Ingredients for 21st Century Learning Gourmets

As is the case for cooks, many different "ingredients" are available to prepare a variety of dishes. In our analogy of learning to cooking, we view both students and teachers as LEARNERS and therefore COOKS. These are the primary ingredients we have found to be most powerful and readily usable for 21st century learning:

  1. Social Bookmarking with del.icio.us

  1. Photo Sharing with Flickr

  • Flickr is a photo sharing (including Flickr Creative Commons images) resource that allows you to upload and tag your photos for free.
  1. Digital Storytelling with VoiceThread

  • "A VoiceThread is an online media album that allows people to make comments, either audio or text, and share them with anyone they wish. A VoiceThread allows an entire group's story to be told and collected in one place."
  1. Interactive Videoconferencing

  • Educational activity over the Internet (IP) that links two or more people at two or more locations.
  1. Collaboration with pbwiki

  • A wiki is a website that is considered part of the second generation of Internet-based services that allows users to instantly create and share web pages.
  1. Connecting with Skype

  • Make calls from your computer using Skype's peer-to-peer Internet telephony network.
